how exactly does this work?

The questions are there, but I’m here to ensure that you get the most out of your site and your design. I’ve developed a Five Phase Design Process to take the guess work out of what is going on.

Investing in a custom blog or website design is a big decision. Choosing to turn your site over to someone you hardly know can be scary.

What if they just don’t understand what I want?

What if they can’t visualize what I’m hoping to get out of my site?

What if they get it wrong?

the process

Phase one is like the first date. We’re getting to know each other. We’re taking the time to meet (whether in real life if you are local or via phone call/Skype chat) and ask some important questions. Who are you? What do you do? What are you looking for in a new brand/website? What are your goals? After our initial meeting, you’ll receive a follow up email. Should you choose to move forward and allow me to work with you on your design, a formal contract outlining your project will be written up. You’ll receive this via email along with an invoice for your deposit.

Once your deposit is paid, the fun part begins! You’ll receive another email containing a very detailed questionnaire that’s going to force you to do some thinking and exploring about what you want your brand to represent. Branding isn’t just throwing together a logo or purchasing a pre-made in Etsy. It’s about establishing an identity. You only get one chance to make a first impression…let’s make it a memorable one.

phase one: discuss

After you fill out your design questionnaire, I will collaborate with you on a Pinterest board. This is where it gets fun! We’ll be pinning images together to narrow down a style and a feel for what you’re hoping to accomplish with your new brand. I aim to spend about 10-14 days on this step to allow you to really dig and find the things that make you tick and draw you in. What you’re drawn to is what we will want to reflect in your brand. We will collaborate and after the 14 days, I will put together a direction board for you to take a look at. This will serve as the guide for everything do from this point on.

phase two: deliberate

This is probably the hardest part of the designing for you, the customer. This is where I get to work my magic. The initial logo design process can take approximately 10 to 15 business days to complete.

Using a variety of concepts and ideas, as well as the inspiration board you’ve approved of and the design brief you filled out, I will put together three (3) initial logo concepts in black and white.

Once you narrow down your selection to your ideal logo, the color variation will be implemented followed by your secondary logo. From there, we will work on your sub-logo development and the rest of your branding material. You’ll receive a digital file containing your full branding concept (including logo, sub-logo, icons, fonts and color scheme).

phase three: design

Once your logo is finalized and your direction board approved, it's time to implement it all into the remaining aspects of your brand. This is where we will create your business card design, your collateral pieces and weave them all together into your website!

Get excited! Because your brand is coming to life right before your very eyes! This is super exciting!

phase four: develop

Yay! The day is here! It’s delivery day! You’ve agonized over fonts and color combinations and second guessed every choice you made and finally reached this point.

Your final invoice will be sent out and upon final payment you’ll be sent your final files (multiple formats and lots of copies) in a .zip file via email along with a blog promotional kit to help you advertise your fabulous new brand! Congratulations! You did it!

phase five: deliver
